Something About Moms

There's just something about moms

Can't convey it in just a line or two

Can't capture it in a sonnet or a psalm

But here's my best attempt at honoring moms.

There's just something about moms

Full of devotion, always at my side

Especially when I need you most,

Your face, you will not hide.

Full of mercy and grace,

Compassion and love is all

That I see on your face.

There's just something about moms.

Able to squelch all fear and alarm.

Providing sweet safety in her arms.

Willing to conquer every width, depth, or height,

No obstacle too big, nothing that can overcome

her strength, her will, her might.

There's just something about moms.

Content to go without, to see me succeed,

Without even a thought or regret to her needs.

A perfect picture of grit with surpassing grace.

Willing me to be better, to keep running this race.

There's just something about moms.

Wisdom deeper than an ocean, grounded deeper than any tree.

Faithfully leading her children to the One that always sees.

Prayerfully petitioning on her children's behalf,

Hoping that there will be nothing that holds them back.

There's just something about moms

A warrior, protector, and friend.

A source of strength that can put you on the mend.

A constant comfort that always calms.

Oh, there's just something,

just something about moms.

Happy Mother's Day!

To my own special mother:

Thank you for teaching me about the grace of God and how to use the Bible.

Thank you for showing me what it means to have compassion and how to serve others.

Thank you for showing me how to have grit in this life and how to keep moving forward.

I love you with all my heart.
